Oohyo
Oohyo’s music can best be described as nostalgic pop—a sound rooted in the lyrical sensibilities and melodic warmth of 1980s–90s Korean pop. Her songs are cherished for their intimate, bittersweet vocal style and evocative songwriting, blending dream pop, folk, pop rock, and film-music elements. In recent years—building on earlier tracks like 'Dandelion,' 'A Good Day,' and 'New Shoes,' which emerged during her synth-pop and electronic-pop–oriented period—her music has taken on a more cinematic character, most notably in the album 'OOHYO Returns' and the single 'Calling You,' where lush string arrangements lend her sound a distinctly film-like tone.
Since debuting in 2014 with her first album 'Girl Sense', Oohyo has continued to expand this world of nostalgic pop through her melodies, chord progressions, lyrics, and song structures. Beginning her career at 21 under the Korean indie label Munhwain, she spent her early years exploring her artistic voice while experimenting with hit-making and collaborating with acclaimed producers in Korea and abroad.
With the launch of her independent label, Enough Enough, in 2021, OOHYO now fully charts her own path, solidifying a distinctive sound that stands out within both the Korean and global indie music scenes.
